kjpepper: (looking down)

Today felt and still feels a lot like being trapped in one of those sumo wrestler suits, the kind where they also give you this headpiece that makes you look less like a sumo wrestler and more like a plus sized Spaceball. Never really got why they make those things... it always seemed a bit like a desecration of sumo to me. But that's neither here nor there. I was trying to capture the feeling of being in one, not muse over its cultural significance.

It's hot in here. Maybe slightly smelly. definitely triggers all sorts of claustrophobia. And everything feels like... well, like I'm feeling it through a sumo suit. All this without the grim pleasure of knowing that the other guy is just as uncomfortable as you are. That often helps. No such luck now. *sigh*

Apparently on Wednesday nights now there's this family thing on the common where they have music and kids movies and the Herrells bus. They really need to stop parking that thing withing eyeshot of my window. ;P but this evening we've been treated to little kids slaughtering classic rock favorites... What the hell. The kids, by the sound of them, couldn't have been more than nine or so, and the songs they knew all the words to came out probably when their parents were twinkles in their parents' eyes. Not only that, but as [livejournal.com profile] sundart pointed out, Pink Floyd is the music of pain... and so it sounds a little weird coming out of an eight year old who probably hasn't even hit the teen angst bullshit years yet. So nonsensical. We were also treated to the soundtrack of Shrek 2. Got to see bits and pieces of the movie too, since we can just barely see the screen from [livejournal.com profile] sundart's window. Unfortunately next week the feature will be Shark Tale. Yeeeesh. Hopefully things will be too busy around here to pay much attention.

Somehow I don't feel like extolling the fun filled goodness that is either banana pocky or helping [livejournal.com profile] sydneycat with her almost done wedding dress right now... I wanted to work on a much delayed mix CD but due to unforseen circumstances and a still wonky network connection, that plan is kinda fuxxored for tonight. I guess now would be a good time to conroe the fro. Maybe I'll go do that now, s'cuse me.

* ok, if anyone besides [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess gets why this has anything to do with the entry below, I will eat my hat collections with ketchup.

ita daki masu - what the japanese say before they eat. "i will partake"

possibly relating to the entry's overall feeling of being outside looking in, and the feelings of "about to" and "should i join this". plus you were talking about food. that helps.

Oddly enough, for the food (tabemono) that you mention, I would not say itadakimasu... Usually it is reserved for meals, rather than junk food or snacks.
