This is the sort of weather that makes the idea of moving to Canada really appealing. Glargh.

This morning's been good though. Sunny came home this morning and made pancakes for me and [livejournal.com profile] aisha7576. I also looked up the number of our former downstairs neighbor and gave her a call to wish her luck at her new ministry in Chicago and exchange the usual address and email information. She was really glad to hear from us too, I love hearing people smile over the phone. We then went downstairs to Hastings ostensibly to get me a soda, but we wound up staying for a bit cause the girls had never really explored the full depths of the store. Then we went over to the library to get cards, but found that it's closed on Sundays during the summer. Gah. So we went back home and collapsed on the 2nd floor landing for a bit, then dragged ourselves back up here.

Ye gods, it's nasty though. Stupid August.

New icon, btw! I was discussing fantasy artists with [livejournal.com profile] morlock a few nights ago cause he'd seen the full painting of Luis Royo's Caress (I have a detail from it as an icon) and hadn't realized there was crotch grabbing in the full image, so I was telling him about why I really like that particular one. (it's both blatently sexual and yet also really sweet). And then I was telling him about [livejournal.com profile] sundart's other favorite "naked chick" artist, Dorian Cleavenger... *chuckle* A little too goth for him ultimately, but I've always liked his work. Anyway the conversation made me pick up C's pack of Cleavenger trading cards and I ran across one that I must have seen before but never really looked at before, The Hydra... Yeah, go look, if you're not at work. I'll wait. It's not one of his most striking pieces, and I think his titles and descriptions of his works are fairly silly, but this one... The only deity I've ever really had much of a connection with being a pagan was the Yoruba water goddess Yemaya, and this is sort of exactly how I envision her, down to the "Bitch, please" expression on her face. Plus the fact that her scales and tentacle stuff are purple helps. :) so... new icon. And I'm officially whoring for a print of this for my altar. They have 7x10s at Cleavenger's website.

anyway, glurgh. my laptop's officially making my lap sweat. I think I need to go lay under a fan now.
