I don't think I've been very good at giving shots out to family (the heart held, not necessarily the blood) and dear friends enough lately. You all are dear to my heart, and hugs to all I cannot immediately reach out and touch at this very second.

[livejournal.com profile] sundart and I are over at [livejournal.com profile] gossamer_gull's for the weekend ("G.G.? I feel like a little french hooker!" she says with a laugh.) and we've mostly been laying around shooting the shit, although we did watched Leon (The Professional) last night. I was glad to have gotten a chance to see it again - it's a disturbing movie, but very well acted and thought-provoking, even sweet at some points. I would recommend getting the European version that we saw - there was some footage cut for the american release, probably to cut down on the whole "Lolita" aspect of the story, though I don't think it was present at all . . . I think I may need to own it. It was interesting coming back to this movie after having a love affair with the director's more recent film The Fifth Element - it was interesting tracing elements of visual style and music (same composer) in this earlier film. I should head even earlier back into Luc Besson's filmography and rewatch The Big Blue at some point. I like hading backward into the careers of directors, actors or singers - you get to see how much they've changed, or matured, or even stayed the same. For example, annyone who really liked The Matrix should really see Bound.

Though I was leery of talking about the past couple of weeks to g.g. We turned out to have a really good, honest, touching, and suprisingly helpful conversation that shed a little perspective into the shadowy corners of the broader situation that I had not yet explored. Thank you.

bouncing off, other people want to use the pooter.
