A funeral procession came up Main Street today on my way to work, doing that thing that funeral processions do best, namely trap my bus at its stop as it went past and hold up traffic in all directions despite what the traffic signals actually say. I have to wonder what would happen if a funeral procession and an emergency vehicle hit an intersection at the same time. I'd imagine EV trumps funeral - after all it's already too late for the guest of honor.

I've mentioned before that I find funeral processions fascinating. Always have - you see your share of them growing up in Brooklyn, where a good chunk of the borough is taken up by a gargantuan cemetary. Course, I'm going to be forever comparing them all to my Mom's mile + long one that held up rt. 78 in NJ last year. The little traditions, headlights on, a line unbreakable by other vehicles or traffic signal, and in MA there seem to be cute little purple flags that stick to any and all cars now, probably because so many cars have driving headlights now... Alas, wikipedia has failed me on finding the origins of such things.

Just a little pre-work musing.

It's a vicious cycle - the funeral procession goes through, then it gets slammed into by a ladder truck and a pair of ambulances, and they have to call a hearse for them, but that gets hit by the tanker truck...

i'd say that that was him pearing down what was really going on in his head.
