Wow. Stacey is such the domestic goddess it's not even funny. Roast chicken, stuffing, peas, gravy, potatoes and homemade French bread... ohhh...

Batman is so much more fun on the big screen, you have no idea. Yay.

To those of you that had to witness my display of temper after the movie, I apologize. I got badly triggered and freaked out to the point where I was a hair away from tearing out of the car while it was still moving just to make what was happening stop... which would have been Very Bad. So the second we stopped I had to get the hell out of there and calm down before the unwarrented ripping of new anii occurred. There was a little more going on, but that's basically what was wrong.

anyway...

Apparently Adult Swim has this thing called the Friday Night Fix between 11pm and 6am where they let you download stuff. Like the premiere of The Boondocks for example.

Go watch. I'll wait. Hurry up, it's only there until 6am EST.

all done? Right ok.

I think it's going to be difficult for Aaron to find his voice in a TV format, since his strength really lies in lampooning current events, and he has mastered the art of the terse, pointed delivery. Getting across a pithy point in three panels is hard to do, after all. As a result, some of the show's script definitely has a feel of "OMG I don't have a limit on how many words I can use what the hell do I do now WTF BBQ??" He also sort of loses something trying to address more general topics, but I understand why it has to happen that way (the production schedule of animation is understandibly ridiculous enough to make jabbing at current goings on unfeasable.) Which isn't to say that he can't pull it off. I'm interested in seeing where the show goes, and can't really wait until they introduce Jazmine, Ceasar and Cindy.

I'm also not too sure about the style - it's VERY anime. The strip always had clear manga influences, but yeah, I caught myself looking for subtitles a couple of times, which is silly, cause it's in English. Also it's interesting seeing Woodcrest in a bigger canvas than the strip allows. I had no idea the Freemans' house was, well, THAT BIG. Shit. I want that house.

Definite dislikes:

Note to Regina King: Huey and Riley are two. different. characters. Voice them accordingly. Putting a gangsta lisp on Riley is not enough differentiation.

This may be a personal quibble, but this ep focussed way too much on Granddad. I wanna see Riley shooting people and Huey starting a revolution. Well, wait, Riley did shoot someone. Still, despite the priceless sight of Granddad doing Tae Bo naked (!!!) yeah. Way too much on him and the boring white folks. Damn, white folks are boring when they're not fucking shit up. ;)

Definite Likes:

Grandad bellowing about vitamin C.

the secret of taming the evil white man with gourmet cheese.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH! Granddad tried to 'ssassinate me!!!!"

"You should see the Passion of the Christ my son." "Couldn't do it. White Jesus."

"Oh... the N word's okay as long as they say it..."

Uncle Ruckus' big musical number. *face* *palm*

a few other choice moments where my mouth dropped open in "omg, he went there and they let him get away with it holy crap!" disbelief.

So... I don't know. I think the jury is tentatively out, but overall I did like it. Maybe that was just the thrill of getting to see it almost two days before the rest of y'alls. Nyah nyah. But seriously... especially [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess, you might want to keep an eye on the above link on Fridays and try to catch it, since I know you don't have cable anymore.
