I must have been really tired last night, as I had forgotten to set the alarm . . . didn't seem to matter, as suddenly I was wide awake at 6:30 am anyway. Just in time to see a beautiful sunrise. Although I say that with a smile, as someone (I don't remember who) recently made the observation that there really isn't any such thing as an ugly sunrise, or sunset. I guess it's just a matter of whether you get to see them or not.
Last couple of days were fairly uneventful, but good . . . Sunday,
sundart and I went to the Holyoke Mall and met up with
darkling_dreams, despite some annoyingness with the Sunday bus schedule and the fact that they seem to be switching which entrance the bus stops at at random for no good reason. We were mostly there so
sundart could go to AC Moore, but I made some fun purchases too, like a ridiculous amount of stickers and a skein of burgundy toned multicolored yarn. Multishaded, more like. But since the burgundy looks really good in my hair, the multi in the same family of colors should be interesting. We also got some new, freshly poofy pillows, a sheet set, Spaceballs and the most recent incarnation of A Midsummer Night's Dream on DVD, and a cubic buttload of blank tapes, so I can get back down to brass tacks and start making some mixes. Also got some Godiva . . . the banana creme truffles are still positively orgasmic. The very seasonal pumpkin creme truffles are also quite yummy. thank you,
darkling_dreams, for being brave enough to try them, though the cute wrapping was certainly incentive. After the mall, we went back to darkling's lair where we watched Spaceballs and helped hang stuff, then went to Chili's for dinner. Yummy, though remind me never to get their chicken ranch sandwich again. Bit too spicy for this chick.
sundart and I also played with
inle_rah's digital camera both on Sunday and yesterday. I am totally having some serious camera lust, and want me some of hers. And the fact that I can stand there and take up to 420 pics without stopping... yeah, baby! Photography is interesting... you basically have to see something, then see if you can make the rest of the world understand how you see it by attempting to capture as closely as possible the essence of what you're seeing through a camera lens. Intense.
Yesterday was fairly blah, although a little worrisome as it seemed everyone in the office was either stressed or sick. It got a little better when I left, ran home, found a supremely silly email from
birkwelch in my inbox, and ran back out again to wander around campus with
sundart and the camera. Upon returning home, had very yummy dinner courtesy of the cooking skills of our friendly neighborhood transsexualhomos (thanks
beatgoddess and
primitive_boy), and then hung out with
darkling_dreams, who came over to watch the finale of For Love or Money 2, the horrendous reality show soap opera that we kinda got sucked into the last time she watched it here. It was quite expectedly horrendous, waffling between excruciating and sickening, but it did get me thinking... okay, brooding, about love, relationships, what have you. (It probably didn't help that I got all tired and cranky midway through the show.) Curling up with
sundart afterwards, I came to the conclusion that we all want people that are easy to love, people that fit into our own individual standards of morality, physical traits, opinions, etc, and also present the least amount of disruption in our lives. Any deviation or difference from that ideal we set up poses a challenge to us. Item X is different. Can I still love this person anyway? If yes, move forward five spaces, if no, go back to start. I guess the bigger the challenge, the braver you have to be in order to continue loving the person, or to love the person at all, and sometimes you run up against a point where you have to consider whether the person is worth the challenge or worth the disruption.
Hmm, I seem to be babbling. I think I need breakfast now.
Ow. My back is positively killing me this morning. Must've slept funny.
