the weekend
Oct. 16th, 2006 09:31 amA good weekend was had by all I think.
FRIDAY: Took the day off, as it was Sunny's birthday plus there were other goings on afoot. We got up early so we could go home and sunny could make her vegan orange cake (I know, I know - trust me, it's actually really good.) Though it wasn't as grandiose as originally planned due to a baking mishap, it came out very tasty and the orange marmalade sun in the middle surrounded by homemade chocolate icing was very pretty.
I also got a package from
carolatina containing a hot-off-the-press book about Crohn's Disease! Thanks, babe.
Late that afternoon I hauled
morlock out of the house so that
sydneycat and co could set the house up for his surprise birthday party. We went on our long overdue date to Interskate 91, where we both somewhat damaged our abilities in the walking department, though only I fell down - and I was the one more confident on skates! :) but I had enough fun to realize that I miss skating of any stripe. Not to mention that it's a bit boggling that I have a pair of original issue Rollerblades that a) still fit perfectly b) are in more or less mint condition. Afterward we went to Laser Storm and mostly
morlock shot the hell out of these two kids that were playing. Very fun, even if I can't aim.
Then we came home and I followed
morlock upstairs on pretenses that syd and I were going to give him his present... which was technically true, as we'd gotten him a deep fryer from both of us. But I think it was the living room full of people that he noticed first. Especially since they were all yelling "SURPRISE" for some odd reason. (He was. Quite.) Cue presents, chicken, alcohol and Muppet Show, season one. Jesus the 70s. So much crack and LSD... you can so tell.
SATURDAY: I think this was the day I sorta chilled out and didn't do much of anything other than read. I've started to notice lately that my recent warcrack habit is killing me in the wrist department, so I think Saturday I pretty much lolled around and read quite a bit. I finished Obsidian Butterfly and A History of Violence. (both were very good, I now want to see the viggo mortenson movie.) That and at one point I think I went upstairs and took a long ass nap with
morlock, and then I cooked dinner for the family. There was also the post Arkham diner trip at midnight, which I enjoy going to even though I'm not part of the larp. Despite the greater efforts of some folk.
SUNDAY: was fun, cause I got
morlock's birthday present, which was a trip to the Natick LEGO store. (yep, my boyfriend took me to the mall for my birthday cause I asked him to. :) ) Not much was on the wall unfortunately that could directly benefit the model I was working on, but there was stuff for my other model that I was working on before that one, so I did end up picking up a pile of useful bricks and some baseboards. I'm going to have to remember that a large cup of legos costs 12.95 - that's a LOT of legos for not all that much. The trick is finding the useful ones. :) We then escaped the OMG YELLOW for the rest of a mall and found a cavernous Goth-in-a-box that was playing Red Hot Chili Peppers instead of really bad industrial (boggle!!!) and that actually had the night elf /dance shirt that I've been drooling at for a while.
morlock also got something made of awesome, but I think he'd kill me if I told. ;) I can tell that he now has an alliance sticker on his bumper - I keep telling him that one day he's going to come back and his car will be drenched in orc or tauren pee.
Throughout the weekend much with the weddingthing craziness... decor to shop for and order, people to harass if we don't get their postcards TODAY (jeez, people) and I have to make some calls today... life progresses I guess, at the usual 300 mph.
