kjpepperOh Lois McMaster Bujold. I want to fill dozens of uterine replicators full of you-clones and give all the girls names beginning with E.
I'm about 2/3rds through A Civil Campaign, and I swear if my neighbors are awake they probably think I'm totally batshit crazy as I spent the last hour in bed first positively shrieking with laughter and very soon afterwards bawling like a two year old because, well, let's just say Bujold nailed a particular relationship dynamic - and when I say nailed, I mean she probably used a sledgehammer to pound the nailgun into the wall before firing it. If it is ever possible to meet fictional characters, I owe Kareen Koudelka a drink and a sympathetic hug, cause damn. Course that could be the fractious up-too-late talking.
I am going to be utterly distraught when I run out of Vorkosigan books, which I am one book away from doing, and the next one isn't due for a while. I suppose I could spend my time forcing other poor unfortunate souls to read them, but I have much the same problem with getting my friends to read books as I do with getting my friends to play WoW - either the interest isn't there, or they are already too backed up with other books/level 70 raiding characters they MUST READ/PLAY to bother with mine.
Yeah, that was whiny, but fuck it... it's three am on the Friday morning of what has turned out to be a profoundly shitty week and I've had all of 2 hours of sleep in the past 24 and that was full of lov-e-ly nightmares. Tonight doesn't look much better, but at least I have a book to keep me occupied while I'm decidedly not-sleeping.
I'm going to be such a useless log all weekend. Blergh.
