I've decided to make a concentrated effort to stop moping. This, I realize will be easier said than done, but I'm rather tired of it, so I'm going to at least try. So, in the hope that focussing on the positive will help, and taking a page out of [livejournal.com profile] anythingbutpink and [livejournal.com profile] bellarisa's book, I give you a list of Five Awesome Things for today:

1) Thumb drives. Because a decade and a half ago we had to use floppies. And they just arent as keychain friendly. Not to mention that the one I'm currently using holds 20 times as much.

2) The little old ladies that cashier at State Street Fruit Store in the morning. Especially Barb. Goddamn, but that woman makes me laugh every single morning.

3) My job. A lot of days it drives me to distraction and near quitting, but the thing is... how many people get to do what they love with people they like and wear jeans/t-shirts every day in the bargain?

4) Reebok high top ladies cross trainers. Because no other sneaker supports my little narrow princess feet quite as well., and I've had a pair of these pretty consistantly since, oh, middle school. The fact that they come in a bunch of yummy colors don't hurt none, even though I always get them in basic black.

5) Coffee. Sanity in a paper cup. Especially since today was Vanilla Hazelnut day at State Street (as opposed to Toasted Cinnamon Cashew, like it seems to be every other day - bleck!)

I had a thought the other day...would you be interested in getting a snazzy timer-equipped (for night-time loading ease of preparation) coffeemaker so you could brew your own at home instead of buying it everyday? It would cost a *lot* less and let you choose what flavor it was as a bonus. http://www.amazon.com/MR-COFFEE-TFX20-12-Cup-Programmable-Coffeemaker-White/dp/B000K7FFP8/ref=sr_1_8/002-3250801-8131252?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1184593510&sr=1-8

Yeah Carole mentioned... the problem is a) I know I'd forget to fill it the night before b) I usually don't wake up until ten minutes before I have to leave the house, so I wouldn't have time to drink it. I'm going to try to wake up early enough to make it some mornings - I would have made some this morning except that I didn't know where y'all had stashed the coffee grounds.

well...the second part is solved easily enough by using a travel mug. I think upgrading may be in order (eventually) so that *if* you remember in the evening it would be right there for you in teh morning. Something to put on the wishlist.

(Waves hands and other things) Me me me!!! You know how much I bitch about it, but most days I really do love my babies and working at home, especially in the summer :-)

I hear you about the job. Long commute may be loooooong, and I have to get up at 6am (*Sideshow Bob noises*), but not only do they let me come in in con t-shirts, they let me put figurines on my desk!

And call me a luddite, but I still prefer floppies to thumb drives. Then again, I must be one of the two remaining people who actually miss the 5.25" floppy.

Thumb drives are glorious - I even found out you can put them through the washing machine (at least once) and they come out unscathed

I remember the ladies at State Street - yeah, they totally deserve to go on a list of awesomeness
