I like these little "writers block" things. They're a neat idea.

I can't really choose between a lot of my teachers. Many of them were memorably eccentric and quite a few of them were amazing. UNIS seemed to specialize in quirky creative types for their teaching staff. I guess I'll have to go by department...

Music: Mr. Tobey (and occasionally his wife) was my violin teacher from 2nd grade until I graduated from high school. He was goofy, patient, never yelled at me for not practicing, and always had fun stories about playing in various orchestras for currently running Broadway shows. He also ran string ensemble for middle and high school... shepherding us through many a groan-worthy rendition of Pachebel's Canon or the 4 Seasons for some school event or another. (We weren't bad, but you'd be sick of those pieces too if you had to play them at every swanky school fundraiser. Especially if you played low string.)

English: I loved this whole department, but shoutouts have to go out to Mr. Banton (for being Mr. Banton... he sort of defies description), Ms. Knox (for showing us the more... risque... sides of great literature and somehow managing to work stripteases into school productions of Shakespeare), and Mr. Cisek (for being up for a discussion on the latest episodes of Reboot).

Science: All of my chemistry teachers were loons (too much time huffing volatile compounds under fume hoods, I think), but a special mention has to go to Mr. Polichnowski for teaching us how to eat dry ice safely. And to Mr. Rahal, both for taking such delight in coming up with... creative... demonstrations of conductivity (long story short, never pee on an electric fence) and more importantly for taking time out of his schedule one summer to help me bring my chemistry grades up.
