I have decided.
Oct. 28th, 2008 07:39 amI am going to Haven tonight. I need to dress up slutty and dance, no matter what my energy level is, plus once I get there, I'm gonna be stoked anyway. They are also having a Repo! party with a costume contest, so I'm planning on pilfering a few items from
sundart's underwear drawer, finding someplace downtown that may have a sheet of red plastic, little glass vials and blue food coloring and going as a GeneCo nurse. Actually, I wonder, if you crack a blue glow stick and then pour the liquid into something else does it continue to glow? *ponders*
ETA: Yes. Yes it does, as evidenced by this crazy muffka who stuck 12 of them in a blender:

LOL I just realized if I go and wear low riders, I might actually have a crack at winning the contest, due to fresh surgery scar. *dead from funny* Dude, I REALLY have to go now.
Anyway. That is my plan and I'm sticking to it. *nod*
In other news, Y HALLO THAR NORMAL LOOKING FEET. Well the right one, anyway. The left still has a bit to go, but man, it's nice to be able to see my ankles again.

Y'know, it probably makes me a very bad person that I really really REALLY like that awful "Honky Tonk Badonkadonks" song. a) it's by Trace Adkins, who really cannot do any wrong in my eyes short of donning a KKK sheet. Basically
timarok introduced me to "Chrome" a few years back and I've loved his stuff since, it's all either joyously silly paeans to curvy women ("One Hot Mama"), or the typical rip my heart out with some spurs, Country-the-music-of-pain weepers ("Every Light in the House Is On") which has it's own level of ridiculousness in its upper over the topness. b) Honky Tonk Badonkadonk. *facepalm* There really is nothing to be said after that. That said, it's a cute-ass song. Um, literally.
I'm a little bit better than I was yesterday due to my day improving quite a bit after 2:30. There was a surprise visit from the Magnificent Male, which was fabulous because I was rearing for a break by the time he showed up so we grabbed a shady curb around the corner from the office, sat, and shot the shit for about half an hour, which did much to smooth down my decidedly rumpled mood. Yes, rumpled is a good description for how I was feeling. And then I got home, had a nap, had yummy yummy dinner courtesy of
sundart and
anzovin (who'd brought home fresh Black Sheep bread for the occasion), got dressed up in a fabulous little black stretch velvet number on loan from
sydneycat and together with
inle_rah indulged in some serious flailing.
Going to Haven's so weird now. I mean I've been sporadically attending the Tuesday night ritual since just about its inception, long enough to superimpose the original layout of the old Club Metro over the current layout of the same space now called Diva's. I miss the cage that used to be set up on top of the subwoofer and the naked mannikins that used to hang over it in particular. But yeah, I can replay most of the memorable trips out, remember the people I would go with who are no longer around or outgrew the whole Goth thing, remember how almost every trip I miss someone who isn't there at the beginning but have usually danced it out of my system by the end of the evening. I remember the goth boys doing the Rockette kick line to Du Hast, the various variation of the Goth Dance ("Screw in the lightbulb! Screw in the lightbulb!" "See the bat! Fear the bat! Catch the bat! Clutch the bat!") and a visceral memory of
stormcloud lip synching to "The Banana Boat Song," which I think Penelope put on one night in one of her seizures of whimsy. I've dragged my boss there once (who at the time was Jim Blau - that was a fun night, since
jaicat helped with the dragging)... actually over the years I've hauled quite a few people there with me.
birkwelch in particular makes quite a cute Goth boy; a deep affinity for synthpop definitely helped in that case. There was the night I went with
beatgoddess and watched hir menace people with a huge black silicone truncheon shaped like a penis. Even though we didn't start officially dating until a month or so later, the
morlock thing started there. I've been watching
sydneycat dance for more friggin' years than I care to think about - hell, I even remember a younger
morlock out on the floor thrashing to the Clay People cover of "Jump Around." And goddamn it, I've seen way WAY too many Cruxshadows concerts, and I swear every single time, something's gone wrong - fire alarm, short in the sound board... heh.
I donno... the clubs kinda haunted for me now. especially since the light's all tricksy and turns people that look nothing like your friends into dead ringers for them for a split second or two. Luckily the melancholy nostalgia was thankfully broken by the wonderousness of the music Not! Sucking! last night, due to
stormcloud guest DJing. Great set, love, I'm sorry I didn't manage to stay for your second one! When are you doing it again? But yeah, orgy of lovely danceable electropop all the way - it was sort of no wonder I was sweat-soaked, disgusting and sore by the end, and my ears are still a little cloudy in the hearing department this morning, but I was quite happy. :) Especially after I got home and showered. I wasn't kidding about the disgusting. There was a lot of dancing to be done, and by golly I did it.
One thing I did notice last night was that I definitely have a little more flexibility and control over the flailing due to the belly dancing. I always led from the hips when goth dancing anyway, but there was definitely less of a random factor to what they were doing to said music, not to mention it's just fun doing half camels to Nine Inch Nails.
The very end of my evening was spent watching Avatar and Boondocks episodes with
morlock and a good amount of that other thing that tends to happen late at night when we're both sleepy and don't want to go to bed yet. >:)
Today the plan is going down to the Big mall with
morlock after work to drop off (FINALLY) my perscription and get new lenses, and then a showing of X3 is proposed with the family. I'm looking forward to another good evening, let's hope that it is one. :)
BTW,
kshandra,
birkwelch (where the hell are you these days?) and
sundart, have you seen this?? and if so... wanna play?

Another quick update
Oct. 12th, 2005 09:34 amYesterday blew goats, but according to the third law of Havening according to
sydneycat, the worse the day, the better the club... and it was good last night. Not so much the music, which was eh at best until of course it was time to leave, but good god, so many people we knew out last night! too many to list here even. Ah well, all the better to sing Happy Birthday to
morlock when the clock struck midnight. :)
speaking of which,*tacklehugs/kisses unsuspecting boything* hey
morlock...
Okay, if I'm going to survive today at all I need to go rustle up some breakfast.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
Today should be slightly less sob-worthy than yesterday, plus there's the added interest of Fly By Night tearing down a couple of buildings next to us today so there's going to be all sorts of demolition and destruction and building shaking schmoo all day.Okay, if I'm going to survive today at all I need to go rustle up some breakfast.
Legs hurty . . .
May. 21st, 2003 03:12 amHad fun at Haven tonight. Sheesh. You would think that with the amount that I like to go dancing that I would do it more . . . Anyway,
gossamer_gull,
inle_rah and I literally danced ourselves to pieces - my legs hurt. Biking to work is going to be interesting tomorrow. We'll see how far the preemptive ibuprofen I popped goes.
I wish I had remembered to have someone take my picture before we ran off to the club, I looked damn cute if I do say so myself, with
beatgoddess's magenta glitter drag queen wig, the cat ears, and kitty cat makeup. Naturally I had to dance to the Pussy song. Go me. Ah well, I'll just have to do it again sometime. :)
Anyway, must to bed. Got work tomorrow unfortunately. *sigh*

(no subject)
May. 20th, 2003 04:46 pmOkay, I don't actually hate the dryer. I discovered I had it on the Permanent Press setting, not the usual Bake-The-Hell-Out-Of-Your-Clothing setting. Mystery Solved.
Going to Haven (the local goth night, for those of you that are wondering) for the first time in ages, with
gossamer_gull and
inle_rah. Looking forward to a night of cutting loose and dancing to too-loud industrial - which reminds me, I should bike down to CVS and get earplugs for the masses. I'm rather amused at the the idea that everyone will be showing up late to the club tonight because of the last episode of Buffy. Silly bints. Never got into Buffy myself, as I am deathly allergic to Sarah Michelle Gellar, specifically her nose, but I do like Alyson Hannigan, so maybe in that amorphous time when I have more free time, I'll start renting the seasons on DVD. I really like this trend of TV series on DVD. I feel like I can catch up on shit I missed. Now if only they would release more episodes of Samurai Jack on DVD, that would be great. But first, the soundtrack, please. Anyway, looking forward to dancing and collecting new music for my download list.
Also trying to make some headway into putting away my summer clothing into my silver trunk and putting up some shelves in my and
sundart's room, but having trouble focusing and/or not falling asleep. I'm amazed I haven't forgotten about my laundry for more than an hour and a half all day, but then again, I won't have anything to wear to either the club tonight or to work all week if I don't get it done, and while I might be able to get into Haven in my underwear, work it would be a definate no no. :) So here's to hopefully getting it all done and put away by the time I have to don my blacks for the night.
hmm, another excuse to go downtown - gotta get some cat ears at the mulberry tree. Well, I'll go when it's time to put my next load in then!
