Holy crap. I actually followed through and finished a project!

So yeah, my photo gallery is done done done! apparently the bit of programming I had to do for it barely took any time to execute as the tables I spent so much time meticulously constructing in Excel last night seemed to just lend themselves to quick easy queries. Thank the goddess, I now can actually work on something else now. Like take more pictures. [livejournal.com profile] sundart's been bugging me to take some of her new haircut in her new corset, plus I think the deerfield contingent want some as well.

OMG IT'S DONE OMG. Like seriously, this is a big deal. I almost NEVER stick with projects I set for myself long enough to complete them so this is all momentous and shit. Plus there's the fact that I've been meaning to do this for years. YEARS, I TELL YOU.

So that's today's little triumph. Actually today's been okay to pretty good so far - I tagged along with sydmor and the Tatros for some Amherst College dumpster diving, though there wasn't much around or out ([livejournal.com profile] morlock did score me a big ass drawing board, and [livejournal.com profile] cell23 found a perfectly servicable end table), and besides they now have Amherst pubic safety chasing people away from the piles of stuff, because someone might get tetanus and sue the school or something. Um right. I would think that most people would realize that dumpster diving is definitely an at your own risk sort of activity, but whatever, we live in a society of restricted freedoms since the ability to have common sense seems to be a dying trait as more and more dumb people breed. (this does not apply to anyone on my flist with kids, obviously.) Later there seems to be the prospect of cookout, also with the Tatros... beautiful day for it, as it's not nearly as oppressively sticky as it has been all weekend. Mmm, dead thing on a grill... But now I should probably get some dishes/laundry done. This is especially important as I don't think anyone would appreciate me showing up to work tomorrow naked from the waist down. Then perhaps I shall procure myself some Coke...

The second truly humid summer day of the year. I perched on my bed earlier, working on my pictures and occasionally turning my head to watch the traffic and the people outside through the window. I heard snatches of music from the radios of passing vehicles... just now someone was playing Johnny Cash covering Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus." The man really could sing anything and make it his own.

Today itself was disappointing, but like yesterday there were some good moments. And I did manage to get all the pictures in my portfolio processed, watermarked, sized, thumbnailed, renamed... wow. After all of this I kinda want to run screaming from photoshop at least until I have to go to work on Tuesday. Which is fine because I think Beavis is going to melt if I leave it open any longer.

Hear that? *insert proverbial crickets* that's the sound of a deserted college town. Now, if we could get rid of Mr. Bucket, that would be great...

aaaaaaargh

So many gorram pictures... I'm going to be embroiled in this portfolio project for weeks.

Ferris wheel = International sign for Fried dough goodness. :)

Yeah the cursed fair is on Amherst Common this weekend - and I call it the cursed fair because apparently there is a long standing freak occurance that the fair shows up and it then rains cats and dogs. And of course it is pouring today. Though last night it was only lightly drizzling so [livejournal.com profile] sydneycat, [livejournal.com profile] htl_1126 and I decided to head over in search of fair food. Well. Di and I were singlemindedly in pursuit of fried doughy goodness. We were not alone in our quest, as we ran into babyzilla and her parents... babyzilla who had that glazed, slightly tweaked look of the holy crap sensation overload! that little kids get. She kept looking around and stuff and going "Wow..." which was of course, cute as hell. At last fried dough was achieved in all of its sweet buttery confectioners sugar covered wonder.

Fried dough and a nap certainly redeemed my afternoon, especially my bus ride home as three of the most nerve grating people evar seemed to be on my bus last night... including Mr. Bucket, who I also had to encounter at the fair later. While my own dislike of the man doesn't extend to [livejournal.com profile] sydneycat audibly death-hexing him every time she passes him (I usually just cross the street or sit at the way other end of the bus) it does kinda make me feel like creating anti-bucket brigade stickers and slapping them all over Amherst, kind of in the tradition of Andre the Giant Has a Posse/Obey Giant. (look 'em up on wikipedia). It could be fun really, especially if there was also included a web site full of nonsensical paranoid ramblings, like SCHWA or Timecode. I already have a proto rant drawing a paralell between him and super Grover and a conspiracy to control the Valley's children through bad percussion and red lame capes. Well, if I do get something like that at least he will have brought something entertaining into this world - quite unlike his schtick of whacking his bucket in a psuedo percussive manner and butchering the Harry Belafonte top 40.

Work and more breakfast now.

Wow this weekend was busy! I don't really have the time to devote a long entry about it, so time to dust off Mr Bulleted list:
  • Diner was fabulous, though we were missing 2 of the Amoeba boyos. Still there was [livejournal.com profile] inle_rah the Cute and Dimply!, and that's always fun. plus jukeboxing with [livejournal.com profile] sydneycat. Johnny Cash baybeee.

  • Work on Saturday blew big smelly hairy goat balls. Amazing how two hours can ruin an entire day. Not getting into why in a public post, but I'm fairly sure today is going to be unpleasant because of it. Oh well.

  • Saturday was immediately rescued by [livejournal.com profile] sydneycat and [livejournal.com profile] bluewindkitsune, who took me to faces and helped me horrify a busload of tender green Smithies by loudly discussing bad porn.

  • Alas, the rest of Saturday was mostly ruled by teh God of Drama. None of it my own, really, but still fairly exhausting by the end. There was Con Air to be watched though. Jerry Bruckheimer is so amazingly bad sometimes. This movie is no exception, but it's still fun, between Nick Cage's HORRENDOUS accent, the laughable dialogue, and Steve Buscemi, Ving Rhames, and John Malkovich having way, WAY too much fun playing bugshit crazy psycho killers, qu'est que c'est?

  • Went to bed. Was joined by [livejournal.com profile] morlock. *happy sigh* The day wasn't all bad.

  • Slept in on Sunday, and woke up to sunbeams, [livejournal.com profile] sundart pottering in the kitchen, and the fact that [livejournal.com profile] morlock had stolen the covers yet again.

  • Am very satisfied with my contributions to [livejournal.com profile] sydneycat's nefarious project. Will post a few of them when the project declassifies. ;) Spent most of the day doing that in various stages, cuddling with sunny, hanging with Blue (yay someone else who can sing along to Bat Out of Hell II in its entireity!), and battling the hungries and crankies at varying stages of the day. Bah.

  • did manage to do the important bits of my laundry. I may be facing a bad day at work today, but by golly, I will be wearing underwear and pants while I do it.

Speaking of which, I need to do get dressed and stuff. Might as well get this show on the road.

[EDIT]: Everything's ok work-wise. Yay.

One of the main reasons that I will probably continue to take the PVTA even after I get my license is that I'd miss chatting with the bus drivers if I stopped. Especially Phil. The man will talk until your ears fall off in protest, but goddamn, he's interesting. One of those guys who's packed a lot of living into his years (and there aren't all that many of them, considering the depths of his experiences). Anyway, I just got off the bus after a long chat about classical music which sidetracked into Victor Borge and PDQ Bach (wow, someone else who listens to PDQ Bach!!! Awesome!) and then he revealed that he is the keeper of the Holy Grail - namely he has a CD with the recording of "New York, New York" played on old car horns, and he's going to lend it to me. I swear my little heart just turned cartwheels with joy.

He also made me realize that I've pretty much abandoned my music lately. Not just the playing of it, though he firmly ordered me to go home tonight and pick up my violin for fifteen minutes. But I really haven't been listening to it much either since the car hit me and my iPod went bye bye. Really all I've been hearing are the few songs I snatched off of my drive and put on my work computer and I've long since tired of those, and occasionally cool stuff off of [livejournal.com profile] athene's iPod when she brings it in. I also haven't made any mixes in a while, for which I have utterly no excuse, 'specially since I have the Green mix all ready to go and added one more track to it yesterday. Which is kinda sad really. There was a time when I spent just about all of my time jacked in to some sort of sound... and I miss it. Probably time to pick up the various aspects of it again. Even if by now attempting to play my old friend'll sound more like cats mating violently than anything else. Not to mention I can probably plug my keyboard into my stereo... course, I'd have to find the power cord for it first. I also sure as hell can't play clarinet with hard reeds anymore - I'd blow holes through my cheeks.

Note to self, stop by Downtown Sounds before going to the Big Mall tonight. I apparently should pick up a few little things...

On another note, something to remember - Phil mentioned a place in Wisconsin called House on The Rock that I apparently must see sometime in my life. I can't imagine when I'll be in Wisconsin of all places, but if the collection of old pneumatic powered musical ensembles is as neat as Phil says, I will indeed have to check it out at some point. Maybe during that proverbial cross country road trip me and the girl want to take at some point... Hmm. I smell possible honeymoon idea. >:D

damn it, must reupload rest of icons. I found 15 ultimately too stifling and paid for extra ones when I renewed my account. Be nice to see and use my old friends sometime...

Mmm. Saturday. Mmm. Memorial Day weekend. Mmm, so much slacker potential.

Crap! Sis's birthday! Must send her something - flowers?

Spent the morning making a few more Livejournal pics. Two are from I Feel Sick, one is another one from Samurai Jack (which is on tonight along with .hack/sign, which I'll probably watch even though I despise starting things in the middle) and the last is my favorite villainess of all time - Hexadecimal from Reboot. I wish they'd show that on Cartoon Network again - I never did get to see the fourth season. Or even all of the third. Feh. Luckily I've got season 1 and 2 somewheres - two copies even, as I originally taped them when they were running on ABC saturday mornings, and then again when they were on Toonami.

Have to redo my I Feel Sick fan site. Am rather shocked by the nasty quality of the images. I don't remember them looking quite that bad, and even though I know that jpeg degradation is more or less a myth, poking around that site after not having done anything with it for about two years makes me wonder. Of course, I originally did the site on a Mac, and it is possible that with the eye-bleeding resolution I didn't see all of the artifacts present. I just haven't gotten to do this as redoing it would involve re-doing all of the scanning and color correction I had to do for it the first time, and who has time for that? feh. Gawd. I have been sorely neglecting so many web projects - the SODA site, the brainworks site, all sorts of stuff. Rather amused by the fact that i've been updating my own web site a little more these days. though, due to the aforementioned lack of time, there is still barely any content in it. Nothing like a 9-5 job to kill the creative spirit.

It's RAINING! gaggh, it's been doing that for three days now. A little sun and warmth if you please!

Anyway. I have some stuff to do this weekend. I should run off and make some lists now. :)
