Is Keith Olbermann... crying? Wow.

Damn, son. Tell us how you really feel about Prop 8.

(and pay no attention to the black girl behind the curtain sniffling.)

Despite the irritation about its passing and the post election kerfuffle wherein several high profile people blamed the black community for passing it (not getting into that argument again though) I'm rather encouraged about the prospect of it being overturned, and pleasantly surprised that Conan the Republican has reversed his stance on it. I'm also kinda heartened by the nationwide outrage... makes me think that this whole gruling election year isn't just a fluke and most of the country anyway is indeed ready for a change. But again, I'd like to point out that being ready for a change means being willing to go out and make one, not just rest on our laurels and expect Obama to do all the work for us. Still trying to figure out what my personal contribution to changing the world is, but I tell you, I haven't been more inspired to make one than I have in the past week or so!

Have you seen this website? I'm eyeing over the tab that says, "America Serves." I was thinking about doing volunteer work because canvassing for the Obama campaign has been a good experience. This looks like a good place to start. [livejournal.com profile] doomsey told me I should apply for a job through the website, but...enh. I like where I'm living now. I don't want to uproot myself and move to D.C...especially after all the scary health problems I've been having.

And...regarding Proposition 8, I didn't realize until after the election that even people outside of California could have donated funds. This really should have occurred to me because the Mormon Church initiated and funded the Yes on Proposition 8 yahoos. If I hadn't been stupid and known that, I probably would have sent them a donation.

*kicks self*

yeah, as the fingerpointing gets uglier over there it looks more and more like the No on 8 people COMPLETELY dropped the ball in terms of getting the word out.

Dan Savage was answering questions (no matter how lame) for people who donated to No on 8.

He sure talks good.
I was with him right up until the end...I don't think that this issue should be framed in terms of Love, or any other emotion. This is about Rights. Equal rights of all citizens under the law, without passion or prejudice.

Well, for starters, you are the only person I have seen online in the last six months who has spelled "kerfuffle" right. It made me misty-eyed.

Oh, Keith. You may actually convince some blockheads with that.
