kjpepper: (facepalm)
Gods, tonight, except for one bit, was just full of the argh and facepalm.
  • It should not have been that hard to find an application, shareware, trial or freeware, that outputs extruded text in .3ds. I'm just saying.

  • related to the first, tonight seems to be the night for online creative stuff. Finally updated the dragonsea homepage... that was a bittersweet process, let me tell you. *sigh* at some point soon, I need to tackle my own web site... arghfllf 2004 era code.

  • related to the second... I should never devote that much time to refreshing my server's visitor logs. Really I should stop checking "300 most recent visitors" entirely. No good has ever come of it.

  • in cheerier news, I got told a story over Skype this evening. :)

  • the disadvantage to people removing themselves from reading your LJ.... you get things happening like [livejournal.com profile] morlock bringing me a bottle of NOS as an attempt to be cheer me up. lolfail. Ah well *puts away for Sunday*

  • trying really REALLY hard not to be bitter about Watchmen. It really isn't working.

  • I have a super secret mission in the works... here's hoping I can pull it off. If I can, that'll be amazing. If I can't, ah well, one more disappointment to the pile.

Well. This post just flamed out into negative and fail. I think that's my cue to cut it short and go to bed.
kjpepper: (curse! curse!)
So remember how I was modelling my room in bryce last weekend? Yeah, I finished that, more or less. I got all the walls and outlets and stuff mapped out, and except for the bed, for which I found a close enough for government work model online, I pretty much substituted cubes for the rest of my pertinent furniture. Which are all pretty much cubes anyways.

Anyway, the POINT of this exercise was to figure out whether I could rearrange my room so I had a little more open space up near the door. The answer, alas, is not quite - my desk is too damn big to fit anywhere really. I could do it if I slid it down a couple of feet and put the bookcase behind it next to the window, but there'd be a funny area near the window that would be kind of hard to get to without squeezing around the bed.

So... foiled in my efforts for now. Curses. I'll get you next time, Gadget. Next time!!!
kjpepper: (aim to misbehave)
So the plan is to eventually rearrange my room.

This turned into an excuse to measure things.

This then turned into an excuse to make and model things in Bryce, which I haven't done in like a decade.

This then made me sulk about my lack of wide-angle lens for the Hatemonger.

But yeah. Nowhere near done, but here are some preliminaries.

yeah. my room's a mess. Gonna clean it when it's not as hot out.

In other news, my cell phone seems to bought the farm. Grr. So anyone trying to grab me by phone, that's why it's going direct to VM.
kjpepper: (oooh pancake!)
Hey [livejournal.com profile] anzovin! Remember the movie I posted yesterday, "Kiwi"? (Which you then didn't watch? ;) ) I found the original YouTube post for it. The guy used the Setup Machine to rig it!

Anyways, I poked around YouTube some more and found some more bits of animation I'd seen on Siggraph reels. Some of these are reposts, I know, and all are work safe unless otherwise noted.

  • Fallen Art - Somewhat gory, wickedly twisted, VERY disturbing and I want the dance reel as an icon.

  • La Migration Bigouden - This might explain a couple of the icons I already have, including the one with this post.

  • The Cathedral - Same guy as "Fallen Art." Again with the disturbing.

  • The Fly - This one makes you think about what would happen if you crossed Samurai Jack with Mr. Miyagi.

  • Delivery - well, that's one way of solving a smog problem...

  • Overtime - A tribute to Jim Henson. Again with the disturbing, but kinda neat at the same time.

And now, back to work, back to reality. Eeeeep.
